Amarillo Police are investigating whether a 47-year-old woman had sexual contact with a 16-year-old student.
Police say he was not a student of Martha Lynn Perry's, but confirm that he is enrolled at a high school in the Amarillo School District. "The case came to our attention on December 2nd, alleged contact with the student happened before that, possibly during the summer," says Sgt. Randy TenBrink.
This is the first time a female teacher has faced these types of charges in the area, according to the Randall County District Attorney, James Farren. He also said he's confident that the evidence will lead to a prosecution. "I don't want to get involved in the specifics of this case but eyewitness testimony is pretty compelling especially in an event like this," Farren said.
