TB is not in the news as much anymore, but it still kills about 2 million people every year.
Now, for the first time in 40 years, a new drug is showing promise as the first new way to treat tuberculosis. It's an experimental compound that attacks an enzyme that bacteria needs to survive.
So far, researchers say this appears more effective than anything we have to offer now, and it's also effective against some strains of TB that have become resistant to other treatment.
