A familiar name is breaking ground in Lubbock.
Community leaders broke ground Friday on the Larry Combest Community Health and Wellness Center. The former congressman attended the ceremony at 217 East 40th street.
Combest said, "I like to see it in a part of the community other than 4th to 19th, to the Tech triangle, that you know shows Tech has a part in the community, yet it's not on campus. It's in east Lubbock, an area that vitally needs it."
The project is funded by federal appropriations, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Nursing and a block grant from the city.
