A Lubbock family received an early Christmas gift Saturday as they celebrated a long awaited homecoming.
It's been a long recovery for Lubbock teen Shanna Davis after a car accident in September of 2003 left her in a coma for about six months. Shanna then spent the next 9 months at a special treatment center in Irving. After an amazing recovery Shanna was finally able to come home for good Saturday.
"This has just been tremendous to see her come home to be able to welcome her. She's had lot of visitors while she was in the hospital and on a website they have been able to chat back and forth and post things so everybody's been following her progress for 9 months, actually over a year", said Lloyd Allred, a friend of the family.
Shanna will return to school after the Christmas break. Shanna was injured in a car accident just North of Seminole in September of 2003. Shanna and two other Monterey High School students were returning from a high school football game in Odessa when the accident happened. One of the teens was killed in the rollover.
"We had hoped she was going to be able to come home for Thanksgiving be home for Thanksgiving, but at least she will be home for Christmas, so we got a nice Christmas present", added Allred.
