Testimony started Tuesday for charges of intoxication manslaughter. Emmanuel Duran was the driver in a crash that killed 21-year-old Damien Rodriguez in October 26, 2001.
Reports indicate two vehicles were driving around 80 miles an hour on University when Duran's Mustang hopped a curb, flipped upside down, landing partially inside a house at 38th Street and University.
Witness testified that Duran had been at the "Static" nightclub prior to the wreck. Others testified about Duran's alcohol consumption that night. Police reports indicate the crash was a result of street racing.
