Lubbock County bid farewell to two long serving commissioners Thursday.
Kenny Maines and Gilbert Flores are leaving at the end of the year after 12 years in office. Both said they're proud of the things they've accomplished during those years.
"One of the promises I made when I took office in 1992-93 was I was never going to shame the position, and I was going to bring pride to the county commissioner office, and I believe I've accomplished that." Flores said.
"This has been an incredible experience from day one, since the time I was sworn in on January 1, 1993. This has been a wonderful ride and we'll see what God has in store for me for the next 12." Maines said.
Maines is leaving office to get back into music. He has a new CD coming out this spring. Flores will be a consultant for a radio and television company.
