For some the gifts are wrapped and under the Christmas tree; for others there's still plenty of time to complete the task of holiday shopping. Either way the thought of whether your loved one will appreciate your gift has probably crossed your mind at some point. As well as whether or not they will have problems if they decide to return it.
Perhaps the worst thing about buying gifts for loved ones is agonizing for hours over whether they will really like it or not. As of Saturday you still have seven shopping days to find that perfect gift. But what if the gift that seems so perfect to you isn't that wonderful to your loved one. During the holidays most businesses extend their return policies.
At Circuit City items purchased between Nov. 26th and Christmas 2004 can be returned through business hours on January 10 or 30 days after the purchase, whichever is longer. For some items there is only a 14 day return period.
Now if you do not have the receipt when you make the return, Laura Rowten, a manger at Circuit City says it's not a problem. "We can look up any purchase that was put into our data so if it was $100 we can look it up without anything; if they have the receipt it makes it a little bit easier," Rowten said.
Other businesses around town have policies similar to this during the holidays, but before you head out to shop, you can usually find the return policies of that particular store on the internet.
