Holiday Mail Deadlines

On Monday the U.S. Postal Service expects to handle 850 million pieces of mail. In Lubbock alone, post offices will process one million cards, letters and packages by the end of Monday night. This means, mail for the rest of the week may be slightly delayed.

"Most of your carriers, be patient with them they'll be there. We'll make every address every day but they may be running an hour or two late," says Ted Tyler, the Lubbock Postmaster.

It's not too late to get your packages in the mail in time for Christmas arrival, but you do need to mail it priority. If you're mailing in Texas, you have until Wednesday to mail priority packages. If it's out of state, you need to get it in the mail on Tuesday. After Wednesday, you'll need to use express and overnight services. Express mail will be delivered on Christmas day.
