Counterfeiter Sentenced to Prison

Plainview PD Plainview PD

For one Plainview man, the year will begin and end the same, in jail. Danny Marquez was sentenced to 18 months in prison in Lubbock Federal Court on Tuesday.

The sentence follows an agreement in which Marquez pleaded guilty to passing counterfeit notes and aiding and abetting. A trail of counterfeit money led South Plains authorities to Marquez in January. He was arrested and has been held without bond since then. Authorities say Marquez passed $20, $50 and $100 bills to several businesses in Plainview. Store clerks helped identify him.

Along with his jail sentence Marquez was fined $500.
