Lubbock Man Hit & Killed While Helping Accident Victim

A Lubbock man is dead after he was hit by an oncoming vehicle while trying to help an accident victim.

The accident happened on an overpass, Wednesday night, at Brownfield Highway and 82nd Street in Wolfforth. According to the DPS, 63-year-old Phillip Shelton had stopped to help a woman parked on the side of the road.

Troopers are investigating whether road conditions caused the oncoming vehicle to hit Shelton who died at University Medical Center. The woman Shelton was helping was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
