Texas Attorney General Files Appeal In School Finance Ruling
The state formally announced it will appeal a judge's ruling that the school finance system in unconstitutional.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott filed the notice with the State Supreme Court on Tuesday. In September, an Austin judge ruled that the state's current share-the-wealth system is "financially inefficient, inadequate and unsuitable." Reforming school finance is one of the major issues facing state lawmakers in the next legislative session.
