Alcohol Intake Could Increase Risk Of Stroke

You've heard by now that alcohol in moderation can be a helpful to the heart. Now, there's more evidence that if you take that too far, you could end up with a lot more than just a headache. It could increase your risk of having a stroke.

A study at Beth Israel Deconness Medical Center followed 38,000 men and found those who drank three or more servings of alcohol a day had a 42% higher risk of having a stroke. They also found that the moderate drinkers fared better than non-drinkers, because men who had just one or two drinks a few times a week cut their risk of stroke by 30%.

So what's the best alcohol to drink? Researchers found that red wine seemed to be more protective than beer or liquor.
