Police identify body found on I-27 near Marsha Sharp Freeway

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Police have identified a body that was found on northbound I-27 near Marsha Sharp Freeway in East Lubbock that was involved in a motorcycle accident.

Lubbock Police Department Sgt. Robert Hook says EMS discovered the body of 33-year-old Willie Lee Kelso around 7:40 a.m. Friday. Hook says it appears that Kelso was a victim of a single-vehicle accident. 

Police say Kelso was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle north in the 400 block of I-27 and at some point, his motorcycle hit the east wall of the I-27 overpass above Marsha Sharp Freeway. Kelso was thrown from the motorcycle onto the concrete embankment.

The motorcycle veered northwest and hit a fence on the east side of Sysco Foods in the 200 block of I-27.

Hook says the fog may have been a factor.
