Senator Duncan Discusses Legislative Priorities

Another year, another legislative session, another chance for lawmakers to reform school finance.

Friday Senator Robert Duncan joined NewsChanel 11 to talk about priorities for the upcoming session. Among a number of funding priorities, Duncan says school finance tops the list. In order to bring new money into public education, while cutting property taxes, he says lawmakers will have to look to businesses.

"Generally, the concept would be to broaden the base of the business tax to ensure that the work force the business benefits from the work force, a good educated work force, to broaden that base so that we can bring in more people and hopefully, adequately fund our schools," said Senator Duncan.

The legislature convenes Tuesday in Austin.
