Lubbock PD
Scared and helpless. That's how many Central Lubbock residents felt this Tuesday afternoon after a foot pursuit between the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and a wanted man occurred.
A Crime Line caller tipped the sheriff's office off that 29-year-old Andre James was in a house in the 6200 block of Avenue U. The sheriff's office says James ran out the back door, throwing out drugs when deputies arrived with a warrant for his arrest, causing a foot pursuit.
The sheriff's department obtained a warrant to search the residence for drugs because they said it smelled of marijuana. Homeowner, Vonetta Gildea said, "That's no reason to search my house. Then they say it's a known drug spot." Gildea said, "Nope," her house is not a drug hot spot, however officers searched the same residence only weeks in late December.
James is described as heavyset, 5'11''. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. If you have any information call the Sheriff's Department or Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
