Blockbuster's "No More Late Fees" promotion sounds great right? No more late fees if you keep "Dodgeball" a couple extra days, or if you loved "I Robot" so much you just had to watch it again. But if you take a closer look at the commercial, the tiny writing at the bottom of the screen says at "Participating Locations Only" and Lubbock's five Blockbusters are not participating.
Assistant District Manager Ty Christian says, "The main reason we're taking a wait and see approach to that here in Lubbock is because we feel it really may affect the availability of titles and games for the customers here in Lubbock."
Christian says customers are inquiring about the "No More Late Fees" promotion and most understand why Lubbock locations are not participating. Customer Amy Ott says, "I like that there is more selection here by not having the program in place." Customer Derek Meilinger says, "It really wouldn't change things too much for me."

Video/DVD Releases for January
If you had your heart set on having a couple extra days to drop off your movies, don't give up hope just yet. When asked if it's possible the promotion might come here eventually, Christian says, "It is possible, we definitely want to make a good evaluation of it, instead of jumping in right away."
As with any promotion, there is more to it. At participating locations, if you don't return your rental within eight days of the due date, you're charged for the full cost of that rental. Your money will be refunded if you return it within 30 days, but minus a $1.25 restocking fee.
