Thursday night's fatal plane crash was the third in the last few months involving people from Lubbock or the surrounding communities.

A plane crash on August 7th of 2004 killed a Lubbock businessman and his son. 44-year-old Robert Pearson and his 18-year-son Jacob died when their single engine aircraft crashed in Burnet County. Burnet County is about 15 miles SouthWest of Lampasas. Pearson owned Gill Construction in Lubbock.
On December 17th, a Lubbock surgeon died in a crash in Yellowhouse Canyon. One witness said the pilot, Dr. Mike Marshall, attempted to turn the plane around before it crashed into a ball of flames.
