Fatal Plane Crash Thursday Marks Third Involving Lubbock Area Residents

Thursday night's fatal plane crash was the third in the last few months involving people from Lubbock or the surrounding communities.

1/21/05 NTSB Investigating Fatal Plane Crash Near Abernathy The NTSB from Arlington drove out this morning to investigate last night's plane crash that killed the pilot, his 8-year-old daughter, and their dog.

A plane crash on August 7th of 2004 killed a Lubbock businessman and his son. 44-year-old Robert Pearson and his 18-year-son Jacob died when their single engine aircraft crashed in Burnet County. Burnet County is about 15 miles SouthWest of Lampasas. Pearson owned Gill Construction in Lubbock.

On December 17th, a Lubbock surgeon died in a crash in Yellowhouse Canyon. One witness said the pilot, Dr. Mike Marshall, attempted to turn the plane around before it crashed into a ball of flames.
