An appeals court has struck down a nearly $118-million settlement between the State of Texas and Farmers Insurance Group.
The 2002 agreement came after Texas claimed Farmers used unfair and discriminatory practices to overcharge its homeowners insurance customers. The settlement had been on hold because of legal challenges.
Friday's ruling sends the case back to a lower court. The ruling does not affect a $100-million agreement reached between Farmers and the state last year.
