It is the final memory Sandra White will have of Tim and Madeline Vaughn, preparing to take off and do one of the things they loved the most.

"We just drove by and saw them take off. They flew nearly every night. They loved to fly," says White, a close family friend.

NTSB Investigating Fatal Plane Crash Near Abernathy
The NTSB from Arlington drove out this morning to investigate last night's plane crash that killed the pilot, his 8-year-old daughter, and their dog.

Hours before that final flight, neighbor, Ken Cooper had a conversation with Tim. It's one that now continues to replay in his mind.

"You know we were talking about health issues and children problems you know and he told me, Ken, we gotta live every day to the fullest, because you never know if you'll get t-boned in a car the next day and it's all over," says Cooper, Tim's best friend.

Now his closest friends remember a man who did exactly just that. On one such occasion Tim convinced Ken's wife, Jennifer to head to the skies on a riskier flight.

"I didn't want to back out. It was my 40th birthday. I though I might as well go for it. I actually sat in front and he sat behind me and we went up and did loops and rolls in it. I've got that wonderful memory I'll never forget," says Jennifer.

Yet the friends fondest memories are of a man who doted on the two most important girls in his life.

"He adored Madeline. Just anything she wanted he was very very careful with her in particular. He was a wonderful husband. He just adored Toni. I remember at parties just seeing them dance the night away," says White.

For Ken it's too hard to say what will be missed most about a friend who was more like a brother. For Tim and Madeline, each day was an adventure that led them to spread their wings and fly.

"They were always in this world together and they left it together," says Jennifer.

"I wish you could have met them," says Ken.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Shallowater Intermediate PTO.
