Another Lubbockite has announced a want to respond to the needs of this community.
Local businessman John Leonard III, signed up to run for City Council District 5 in next years election. Currently Councilman Tom Martin holds the seat, but if Martin runs for mayor, as has been mentioned, Leonard wants to fill his shoes.
As for why he wants to run..."Because I'm a promoter of Lubbock, Texas. I moved here in 1989 my wife was born and raised here, I've now raised a family here and I'm at a point in my life, my businesses are doing well and I can give back to the City that has given me a good life so far. Lubbock is going to continue to grow we need to be a pro-business community we are a pro-business community and I want to continue those efforts," said John Leonard III.
Leonard says he is pleased with the current council and the job they've done, and if the opportunity arises he wants to continue the efforts to move Lubbock forward. He agrees water is top priority of today and the future.
