One man is in the hospital and another is out on $10,000 bond after a shooting in Levelland.

The incident took place at 3453 West State Road 300 just before 1pm on Friday. Hockley County Sheriff, David Kinney says Gary Wayne Grant shot a 24-year-old man with a 12 gauge shotgun, injuring his face, neck and shoulder.

Grant was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. The victim's injuries are non-life threatening.

According to reports, the two were arguing. Grant then went into his house and the victim returned to his vehicle. That's when grant stepped onto his porch with the shotgun and fired a shot into the vehicle.

Investigators aren't sure what the two were arguing over. "Gary said he was going to go into the house and get him an equalizer, and the guy kicked him. So he went from an equalizer to deadly force," said Hockley County Sheriff David Kinney.

Kinney says Grant is not being charged with attempted murder because aggravated assault is much easier to prove.
