Students interested in summer jobs can apply with the City of Lubbock

Looking for a summer job?

Parks and Recreation has summer jobs available for Summer Camp Counselors, Lifeguards, and Pool Laborers. People interested should apply online on the City of Lubbock's website at www.mylubbock.us.

Job Descriptions and Qualifications:

Summer Camp Counselors: 

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a High School diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Applicants must be able to work consecutively from late May through August 21, from 7:30/7:45 am-5:30 pm. 
  • Applicants must be able to swim. 
  • Experience working with kids age 6-12 preferred, but not required. 
  • Training is provided for First Aid and CPR certification.

Pool Laborers:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire. 
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to learn to operate pool cleaning equipment, learn and follow safety procedures, and maintain written records.
Cashiers/Concession Attendants: 

  • Must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire. 
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 12 Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily and on weekends. 
  • Cash handling experience requested but not required.
Lifeguards: 

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of hire. 
  • Experience as a lifeguard preferred, but not required. 
  • Applicants must be American Red Cross certified in CPR, First Aid, and life guarding. 
  • All certifications must be obtained prior to being hired. 
  • Proof of current enrollment in certification class or certification must be turned in with the application.
