Lubbock police say alcohol is a factor in a fatal hit and run crash that killed a Texas Tech student Monday night. Police now have a suspect in custody.
32-year-old Jason McInroe faces felony charges for not stopping to render aide. McInroe is accused of hitting 20-year-old Kedric Hobbs on his mountain bike and driving away.
It happened shortly before 7:00 Monday night.
A witness told police he saw Kedric and a friend riding their mountain bikes side-by-side on 4th street, passed Milwaukee Avenue when the driver of a pick-up truck hit Kedric from behind.
Kedric suffered from serious head injuries and later died at University Medical Center. McInroe was arrested five hours after the accident, because the witness on the scene wrote down the license plate number and turned it over to police.
McInroe was arrested on previous warrants, including a public intoxication warrant.
