Consider This...Immigration reform starts with controlling our borders

Last week the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Texas federal court decision to block President Obama's immigration plan.

The program is called the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent residents. It could have shielded as many as five million immigrants illegally living in the United States.

This was not a ruling on the merits. It is a judgment that the administration will most likely not succeed in a higher court with their immigration policy.

Consider This…

There is a need for immigration reform, and it has to start with controlling our borders.

That said, it is disturbing that Homeland Security, led by this administration, has admitted to approving thousands of applications for work permits even after the court stopped the program.

If the President wants to change our laws he needs to work with Congress to change them instead of issuing executive orders.

Out of desperation, states, including Texas, are forced to try and pass legislation that mirrors federal immigration law because our government continues to let us down.
