A woman known as a ranching pioneer on the South Plains has died.

Georgia Mae Smith Ericson died Thursday. She was the granddaughter of Hank Smith, who settled Crosby County. She was also a distinguished alumna at Texas Tech and active in helping to establish the Ranching Heritage Center.

Georgia Mae Smith Ericson was 90.
