LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This week's Pay It Forward segment started out in Downtown Lubbock near 8th and Texas Avenue. We set up with our Pay It Forward sign looking for this week's playmaker.
Cassie Medina spotted our sign first and pulled into the parking lot. Cassie was very excited about helping out a foundation very close to her heart.
Cassie told us, "My two little girls have Cystic Fibrosis. I would love to give it to the Cystic Fibrosis Association."
Cassie told us that there is a Cystic Fibrosis Center at UMC in Lubbock as part of the Children's Hospital unit.
We set out to find Dr. Adaobi Kanu who personally cared for Cassie's two little girls while they were in the hospital.
We found Dr. Kanu hard at work in the Children's Hospital.
When we arrived, Dr. Kanu was very surprised.
Cassie told her that she saw our sign and immediately wanted to help out the Cystic Fibrosis Association since they have helped out with her children over the years.
Dr. Kanu was very happy and excited to receive the donation.
Dr. Kanu told us, "$300 goes a long way to funding research and supporting CF (Cystic Fibrosis) centers around the nation."
Dr. Kanu gave Cassie a big hug saying, "Aww Cassie, thank you sweetheart."
Be looking for our Pay It Forward sign soon. You may become our next playmaker.
