Should the Ten Commandments be removed from the Texas Capitol? Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on the subject.
An appeals court has already ruled the state has the right to display the monument on the capitol grounds. Opponents say the location violates the separation of church versus state.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott believes the display is constitutional. "The Ten Commandments monuments here in Texas is perfectly constitutional because it is set in a museum-like setting among a total of 17 monuments and 21 historical markers," said Abbott.
Abbott also said while the monument contains an important religious text, equally clear was the role the commandments played in the development of the country's laws.
