Two South Plains soldiers are spending time with their loved ones for the first time in months.
Julian Baiiza landed at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport Thursday afternoon. Family and friends greeted the marine with signs, American flags and plenty of hugs. Baiiza has been fighting in Iraq. He will stay in Lubbock for 17 days before returning to his home base in California.
Sgt. Enez Martinez hugged his mother for the first time in fourteen months. The Levelland native has been fighting in Iraq for the US Army. He, his wife and son will spend the next month on the South Plains before returning to their home base in Hawaii. Martinez says he's looking forward to spending time with his family and eating good mexican food.
