United Market Street Hosts Living Well Expo

The Living Well Expo will be launched at United Market Street March 4-6. The supermarket is located at 50th and Indiana. Activities get underway at 10 a.m. each day and will take place inside and outside the store.

The event will introduce customers to products, services and solutions designed to simplify their lives. Susan Sexton, Living Well Education Marketing Specialists for United Supermarkets says, "The diverse offerings of our Market Street Store makes it perfectly suited to showcase the products and services customers will need as they focus on food as a solution for health and wellness, or investigate new options like supplements, gourmet and specialty foods,” said Sexton.

Special features of the expo include food and product sampling throughout the store, presentations on the newest food trends such as using exotic produce, a wedding/party planning showcase and manufacturer demonstrations of new products, many of which will be available only during the expo.

Each day of the expo will have a sub-theme on health. Friday will focus on diabetes. Saturday will be for heart-health, and Sunday’s spotlight will be on allergies.

Healthcare partners, including Covenant and UMC Health Systems, will be on hand to conduct screenings and demonstrations, provide education programs and answer questions. Both will have mobile units available in the Market Street parking lot. A wide variety of children’s activities also are planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, highlighted by an appearance by Tommy and Chuckie from the Nickelodeon television show, “ The Rugrats.” For parents, there will be programs on kids-healthy cooking, childhood obesity and teen health, among others.

Market Street also will introduce its new special labeling program to alert customers to heart-healthy, gluten-free, organic and low-glycemic-index foods. In addition, the store will officially become a partner in the City of Lubbock ’s recycling program, as special sky-blue dumpsters will be on-site to allow customers to drop off their recyclable materials beginning that weekend.
