Ginning Continues After Record Cotton Crop

Despite the rainy harvest season, cotton is being ginned on the South Plains in record numbers.

Gins across the South Plains are working overtime to gin the harvest. So far, more than 3 million bales of cotton have been classed. The Texas Agricultural Extension Co-op expects a record 4.6 million bales will be produced in the 41 counties that make up the High Plains.

In Lubbock County alone, farmers harvested 450,000 bales which translates to $130 million.
