A 22 year-old man remains in the Lubbock County Jail Sunday charged in the Friday murder of his girlfriend. The question still remains, why.
Raymon Montelongo Junior allegedly shot and killed 20 year-old Erica Perez in the Cingular call center parking lot. Lubbock Police believe Erica was returning to work from lunch when Montelongo blocked her car and jumped inside. Witnesses told police they heard loud arguing and then two gunshots.
Then just after 1:30 p.m., Montelongo went to the police department with information regarding the shooting. He was arrested just minutes later. Police say the couple lived together for a year, and they do believe domestic violence could have been a factor in the young girl's death.
Montelongo has been charged with murder and is being held at the Lubbock County Jail on a $250,000 dollar bond.
