LISD To Launch Pilot Pre-K Program At Three Local Elementary Schools

Lubbock ISD wants to start educating your children earlier. Starting next fall, three elementary schools will offer a pilot pre-k tuition program.

60 students will be randomly selected for the program. But, parents must pay a monthly tuition fee of $370 per month. That money will pay for the teachers, teacher assistants, class materials and field trips. To be eligible, children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2005.

"It really leads us to a point where every child has a quality pre-school experience which gives them the headstart they need to do well in school," said Kathy Rollo, the Pre-K Coordinator at Murfee Elementary School.
