An HIV positive student may have had unprotected sex with other students. Now, the City of Lubbock Health Department is urging all junior high and high school students to get tested.
NewsChannel 11 first told you about the alert on Friday. Students may have been exposed to the potentially fatal virus if they are engaging in any type of sexual activity. There are currently more than 580 people living with HIV or AIDS in Lubbock County.
There is no way to know if you are infected unless you get tested, so the Health Department has scheduled special STD and HIV screening times for at-risk teens. The confidential clinics will be every Tuesday and Friday in March from 8:30am until 4pm. Testing and exam fees will be waived during this investigation.
The Lubbock Health Department is located at 1902 Texas.
