Winter Storms Drops Snow Across South Plains

Communities surrounding Lubbock saw significant snow-fall Tuesday. NewsChannel 11 Stormchasers drove across the South Plains to gage the impact around Lubbock, and found significant snow fall to the west. In Levelland, officials reported an inch of snow. Roads were slick and visibility was minimal. So drivers in Hockley County are advised to use extra caution.

North of Lubbock, Plainview residents also saw plenty of snow. Further North up I-27, the snow started falling in Amarillo, Monday night and it hasn't stopped. Ten inches were on the ground by three o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Meteorologist expect about fifteen inches eventually from this storm.

Winter Driving
Winter driving involves some dangerous situations that only occur at this time of year. The hours of darkness increase while daylight hours decrease. Together with fog, rain, snow, sleet, and ice, this problem greatly increases the dangers of driving in the winter months.
