ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO. (KMOV.com) –  A mother and two young children were killed when the vehicle they were in was struck from behind, crossed a median and struck another vehicle in St. Charles County Thursday morning.

A vehicle driven by Jacqueline Faudi, 36, was traveling in was on northbound Highway 61 near North Point Prairie Road when another vehicle slipped on ice and crashed into the back. After crashing into the back of the vehicle, both vehicles traveled across the median where they were struck by a southbound traveling SUV.

Faudi and 6-year-old Autumn Faudi were pronounced dead at the crash scene. An infant, Kaydance Miller, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The woman inside the vehicle that was traveling southbound sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

Jacqueline's 16-year-old daughter Victoria said her mother had just dropped off her boyfriend at work near Wentzville and was driving back to Moscow Mills to pick her up.

"She was an amazing woman and did whatever she could for me. Always a shoulder to cry on and always happy. She always kept me in a cheery mood," said Victoria.

Police believe weather conditions played a role in the crash.

“Ice could be a possibility, we aren’t going to rule that out,” Missouri Highway Patrol Cpl. Juston Wheetley said. “Due to the environment, even though the roadways look clear, there is going to be patches of ice that MoDOT just can’t get to. You know, they do the best job as possible out there, and hats off to those guys for what they do in the wintertime out here. But, we have thawing and refreezing, and thawing and water comes back on the roadway and refreezes, there is going to be black ice, so we have to take responsibility of driving seriously when we’re out here, and be cautious and get to where you’re going safely”

The southbound lanes of the roadway were closed until around 11 a.m.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses.
