Medical Examiner: 6 storm-related deaths in Virginia

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed that six people have died in Virginia in connection to the weekend winter storm.

One person died on January 22 from a traffic accident in Chesapeake. A total of five people died from hypothermia in Hampton, Wise County, Charles City County, Gloucester County and Henry County.

Two other people died from crashes in Virginia Beach, but the cause of the crashes is still under investigation.

Virginia State Police say they have responded to 8,412 calls for service since Friday, including 1,562 crashes and 2,502 disabled vehicles.
