LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Idalou teenager Holli Jeffcoat was found dead in her home on Wednesday morning.
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office tells us a family member found Holli in her bedroom around 7 a.m. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Investigators say whoever killed her attempted to use fire to conceal the crime.
LSO says they do have a person of interest in this investigation but have not released a name as of Thursday night.
Jeffcoat was a enrolled in Idalou High School, but she participated in a special needs education program in Lorenzo.
Lorenzo ISD expressed the grief of the whole district on Thursday: "There is a huge loss that teachers and students have experienced that is beyond description. Most of us have known Holli since kindergarten and as long as we knew her, she was never not a joy to be around. We are devastated."
Jeffcoat was 18 years old. She had just participated in her senior ring ceremony two days before the murder.
Alyssa Adames says Jeffcoat gave out hugs every single day and she made school a brighter place.
"Some of us are just like, it's too early but just every time she hugs us, we know we're going to get through the day knowing that we'll see her again at lunch and we'll get another hug," she said. "It just made us feel loved through everything."
Lorenzo ISD tells KCBD that they are working closely with Idalou ISD to offer all the students support through their grief.
