Juan Luna pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the death of Manuel Rivera Friday.
Luna entered the guilty plea in court Friday morning and was sentenced to two years in prison. The charge was reduced to attempted murder instead of murder because Luna offered the Hale County District Attorney's Office information in another case. Rivera's body was found on a dirt road northeast of Plainview in June of 2002.
Minutes after his guilty plea, Luna was arraigned for the murder of Armando Ybarra. Luna's fellow members of the Texas Prison Gang Syndicate. Francisco Calderon, Daniel Jimenez Junior and Daniel Jimenez Senior were also arraigned. All are believed to be responsible for the 2002 stabbing death of Armando Ybarra who was found dead in front of St. Elizabeth's church on Broadway.
