Two Suspects On The Loose After Drive By Shooting

Two armed suspects are on the loose after police say they shot at two vehicles last night, injuring two people. It happened at 11:30 Sunday night at the 7-11 located at 4th and Detroit.

Police say a Hispanic male in a black Escalade drove up and opened fire on two vehicles whose drivers were pumping gas. Two passengers inside a blazer were injured. We know at least one of those victims was a child. Both were treated and released from University Medical Center for minor cuts and scrapes from flying glass. Another vehicle was also struck, a Grand Prix whose window was also broken. At this point, police believe the suspects and victims did not know each other.

"It is very early in the investigation at this point, we don't know what if any is the relationship was between the suspects and the people that were shot at. It appears that at least one of the vehicles was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time," explains Lieutenant Roy Bassett of the Lubbock Police Department.

One witness on the scene was able to identify one of the suspects. Police are working on questioning him at this time. If you have any information regarding this crime you are encouraged to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
