HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Drivers were greeted by slushy, slick roads for the Monday morning commute.

A snow storm that began late Sunday night deposited snow across most of the state by early Monday morning. It wound down by mid-morning.

Meteorologist Mark Dixon said the snow should wrap up completely around noon.

"Clouds are clearing and the sun is coming out in western Connecticut," he said. "The rest of [Monday] will feature quieter weather with highs in the mid-40s. As of late morning, all weather alerts will expire."

A winter weather advisory was in place for Hartford, northern Middlesex, northern New Haven, northern New London, Tolland and Windham counties until Monday morning.

It expired at 10 a.m. for the shoreline communities and 11 a.m. for the inland communities.

School delays and closures that were the result of the storm can be found here.

Meteorologist Scot Haney urged drivers to budget in extra travel time due to some slick highway entrance and exit ramps.

As of 6:30 a.m., the snow came down at a moderate clip with temperatures in the upper-20s and low-30s.

Northwest Connecticut should see 2 inches of snow. Two to 4 inches was expected to drop in central Connecticut. The eastern part of the state could see between 3 and 6 inches.

“The 8 inches is only for isolated areas of northeast and southeast Connecticut,” Haney said.

It was also a bit breezy. Haney recorded winds of ranging from 8 mph in Windsor Locks to 13 mph in New Haven.

That brought wind chill readings into the low-20s for most of the state during the morning hours.

The sun is expected to show itself by Monday afternoon.

“It’s actually going to be a beautiful day with temperatures climbing into the mid-to-upper 40s,” Haney said.

As far as the rest of the week goes, there could be scattered showers early Wednesday morning, according to Dixon.

"A better chance for rain comes Thursday night," Dixon said. "Temperatures warm back above normal, at least to the mid-60s by Thursday."

For Easter weekend, Saturday looks dry. However, there could be a chance for rain on Sunday.
