The Moving Vietnam Wall Comes to Lubbock

The Moving Wall is the half-sized replica of the one in Washington D.C. The wall will be on display at Texas Tech University for the next week.

The wall is 252 feet long, it has 58,245 names on it. It is held up by support legs on the back of the wall. It will be guarded all night and every night while it is on display at Memorial Circle.

The last time the wall was in Lubbock was six years ago. The Vietnam Center at Tech is responsible for bringing it back. We heard from retired Army Colonel Roger Donlon who was also the first Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam Era..

He says to see the wall is a great honor because behind every name is a story. "We take a great inspiration from those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. They are the energy to get us through when times are tough," said Donlon.

Donlon traveled from Kansas to be here in Lubbock for the ceremony. The wall will be taken down April 7th, and its next stop is in Arizona.
