Old Drug Brings New Relief to Women

An old drug may help a lot of women in a new way.

The drug is Depo-Prevera, a birth control drug given by injection. But now, the FDA has just approved it for a much different reason, to help control endometriosis, a common, painful scarring of the uterus.

So now, Depo-Provera becomes the first new drug for endometriosis in 15 years and that's a really big deal to the more than five million women in this country who struggle with endometriosis, one of the most common reasons for infertility.
