Police Make Break in 1996 Murder Case

Lubbock police get the break they've been looking for in a 1996 murder charges.

Albert Martinez Junior was arraigned Thursday morning on capital murder charges in the death of Eva Camacho Garcia. On October 27, 1996, Eva Garcia’s naked body was found lying the bushes at the Central Baptist Church in downtown Lubbock. Her clothes were strewn across the parking lot and police say her body was cut. The cause of death was ruled asphyxiation.

Garcia was a mother of six and grandmother of thirteen. DNA linked the suspect to the crime. He is now in the Lubbock County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
