LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

If your medicine cabinet is a mess, the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy and the Lubbock County Voices Coalition are joining together to ask you to clean out your old, expired or unused drugs.

It's an important effort to clean out a poison risk to kids or remove temptation for abuse among teens.

All you need to do is keep the drugs in their original containers. Then, when you drive to the Health Sciences Center parking lot, a team of professionals will be waiting to take the drugs from your car window and then dispose of them properly.

This is the 43rd Medication Cleanout in Lubbock. These events have collected more than 29,000 pounds of medication over the years. There will be officials there from the Sheriff’s Office to make sure the drugs are passed into the right hands.

The Medication Cleanout will be Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Texas Tech Physicians Medical Pavillion. That's at 3601 4th Street.

For more information about the Medication Cleanout, call (806) 414-9495 or visit www.MedicationCleanout.com.
