A new law is forcing the Lubbock County elections office to change the date of the Wolfforth alcohol election.
The election was originally scheduled for May 7th, but recent changes to state law now require a minimum of 92 days between the date the petitions are filed and the date of the election. So, the election will now be held September 10, 2005.
A group called Responsible Citizens for Economic Development gathered more than 230 signatures to call an election. The group is trying to legalize on-site alcohol sales in Wolfforth in effort to bring a minor league baseball team to the city.
