LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech men's basketball head coach Chris Beard has inked National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American Shadell Millinghaus to a National Letter of Intent and Athletic Scholarship Agreement announced Wednesday as part of the spring NCAA signing period.

Millinghaus, a 6-2 guard from Brooklyn, New York and by way of Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida, is the second signee under Coach Beard. He will join the Red Raiders as a junior for the 2016-17 season.

Millinghaus registered 16.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He drained 47.5 percent of his field goals attempts and reached double figures in 26 of 30 games last season. Millinghaus captured NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention status and Panhandle Conference Player of the Year accolades. He amassed 20-plus points on 12 occasions with six of those performances coming over a seven-game span from Dec. 29-Jan. 20.

Millinghaus spent his freshman season at Southern Miss where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game over 18 appearances. He secured double figures seven times highlighted by a 25-point effort on 9-of-11 shooting at Louisiana Tech. He set a then school record for best field goal percentage in a Conference USA game and knocked down 46.2 percent of his three-point attempts on the season.

Millinghaus prepped for Coach Tyson Waterman at Believe Prep in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He came away with 28 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists per game as a senior. He garnered First Team All-Large School during his junior and senior seasons.
