Pesticides may be linked to ALS

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Cumulative exposure to pesticides is linked to an increased risk of ALS.

That's according to a new study at the University of Michigan where researchers studied surveys and blood samples from people with and without ALS.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

The study published in Jama Neurology  says that researchers found ALS patients were more likely to have been exposed to pesticides, because those patients revealed  higher levels in their blood.
