We all know hand washing can cut down on germs. Now, a study in pediatrics finds there was a 40% reduction in colds in families that frequently used alcohol-based hand gels.
Another tip is to keep your keyboard clean. A study at Northwestern Memorial Hospital found that keyboards are a common source of contamination and fingers, whether they have gloves on or not, can transfer bacteria from hospital staff to patients.
Again, the message, frequent hand washing is the best defense.
