LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Consumer Reports is out with new evidence that some sunscreens may not offer as much U-V protection as we once thought.

The magazine tested 65 water-resistant sunblocks. Now, Consumer Reports spokeswoman, Trisha Calvo, says, "Forty-Three percent of the sunscreens that we tested this year did not meet their SPF claims in our tests."  There were some others, even labeled with an SPF of 50 that the report says worked more like an SPF of 8.

Meanwhile, Dermatologists argue that sunscreens work when used correctly. And for most, if they under-protect, it's because the user doesn't re-apply IT often enough.
