SHALLOWATER, TX (KCBD) -

After three hours in closed session, the Shallowater School Board named Chad Terry the Mustangs new football coach and AD at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Terry, who comes from Plains, was the lone finalist given to the board. However, many players united, asking that OC Kevin Sherill get the job.

After a long discussion behind closed doors, the board approved Terry 6-0.

Prior to his year at Plains, Terry was at Slaton, Coronado, Anson & Sundown.

Terry replaces Kyle Maxfield who left after several successful seasons to take the head job at Brownwood.
